Biography
Cap-Pele New Brunswick's Melanie Morgan has been described as one of the most exciting new voices to hit the Canadian Country scene. Growing up in a small Acadian town, Melanie was exposed to both "Country" and "French Acadian" Music which makes her a great example of home grown talent.
With her classic twang and powerful vocals Melanie has left a lasting impression on audiences all over the country. This was proven in 2011 with her amazing performance on CBC's Cover me Canada, an innovative reality TV competition that was first to integrate social media votes to crown a champion. After 9 weeks of live competition, she came in 2nd and has since received a ton of fan support for her career's continued success.
Melanie's professional journey began in 2006 when her dream of becoming a country recording artist flourished, heading down to Nashville Tennessee to record her debut album "Brand New Day". This debut album received national recognition at the East Coast Music Awards for "Country Recording of the Year" and at the Canadian Radio Music Award for her hit single "My Man" which also received national Airplay on CMT and on Canadian Radio Coast to Coast.
In the fall of 2008, Melanie recorded her second album. This one showcases her songwriting abilities on songs co-written with Nashville hit makers such as George Teren, Wade Kirby, Rick Huckaby and Monty Criswell. Her new project was also co-produced by Criswell, and features several outside songs including "This Time of Year" written by Hillary Lindsey, Tim Mensy and Troy Verges.
Fresh from her recent experience on Cover me Canada where she worked with producers Hawksley Workman, Gavin Brown and Ron Fair, she's now in the studio finishing work on her 3rd album to be released in January 2013. With a tour lined up in the fall to promote the upcoming album, she's getting ready for her biggest release to date.
