Biography

Cap-Pele New Brunswick's Melanie Morgan has been described as one of the most exciting new voices to hit the Canadian Country scene. Growing up in a small Acadian town, Melanie was exposed to both "Country" and "French Acadian" Music which makes her a good example of home grown talent. With her classic twang and powerful vocals Melanie has left a lasting impression on audiences all over Canada.

Melanie's journey all began in 2006 when her dream of becoming a country recording artist flourished, heading down to Nashville Tennessee to record her debut album "Brand New Day". This debut album received national recognition at the East Coast Music Awards for "Country Recording of the Year" and at the Canadian Radio Music Award for her hit single "My Man" which also received national Airplay on CMT and on Canadian Radio Coast to Coast.

In the fall of 2008, Melanie recorded her second album. This new album showcases her songwriting abilities on songs co-written with Nashville hit makers such as George Teren, Wade Kirby, Rick Huckaby and Monty Criswell. Her new project was also co-produced by Criswell, and features several outside songs including "This Time of Year" written by Hillary Lindsey, Tim Mensy and Troy Verges.

In September 2011 Melanie was chosen among thousands of artists to be part of CBC's new hit show "Cover me Canada". Melanie Morgan and her band battled out 7 other bands every week live on CBC where they performed classic Canadian Songs. Melanie got to work with some very well known music producers such as Hawksley Workman, Gavin Brown and star maker himself, Ron Fair.

Morgan gained the most fan votes throughout the competition but in the end ranked in 2nd place. Melanie is now making plans to return to Nashville early 2012 to record some new material and also plans on a summer cross canada tour. Look out for tour dates coming soon.
